Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP)
A program for students at U.S. universities who have completed their sophomore or junior year and are interested in pursuing research careers as PhD or MD/PhD candidates. The Department of Medical Parasitology is one of several NYU SoM Departments which offers research opportunities through this program. This Department’s participation gives you the chance to pursue a research project within the field of Parasitology with guidance from a faculty member and access to the research facilities of the Department. This program will give you the chance to pursue a research project within the field of Parasitology with guidance from a faculty member and access to the research facilities of the Department.
This program runs for nine weeks, from May 31, 2009 through August 1, 2009. If accepted to SURP, you must be able to attend during this time frame.
For appropriate candidates, the program guarantees the following:
- A stipend of $3,500
- Free housing in an NYU facility
- Round-trip travel expenses to New York City
- A cultural component which includes dinners at ethnic restaurants, Broadway shows, museum tours and more
